Which scope would you recommend for.308?

I have a BSA 8-32x44 Platnium on my .308 (Tikka T3 Varmit)for hunting (ranges 50-250yrds). I sighted it in a few weeks ago and I noticed the scope goes black with the slightest movement of my head. I am sure it is due to the quality of scope. I want to purchase something higher quality but I don't want to pay as much for the scope as I did for the rifle (wife wouldn't be happy) (700 dollars). Which scope would you buy?

Yes, that is what BSA’s do.
Simmons scopes are good products.
Mueller (relativly new in the last few years) is an emerging force to recon with. Luepold quality at Simmons prices.
They have a good variety of scopes and them make a few similiar to your setup (though 8x at 50 yards will eventually cause you go lose track of an animal especially running). Midwayusa sells a lot of them for 10-20 bucks cheaper than the quoted price.

Surely you jest…..a 8-32 x44 for shooting 250 yds? That’s really funny! hahaha! Get a 2-7, 3-9 or 4-12 Leopold {walmart-$200/$300/$450} and you’ll have plenty of scope for the caliber. Scope blacking has nothing whatsoever to do with the quality or brand, it’s because it’s waaaay to powerfull for what your doing. The higher the magnification the smaller the exit pupil and the more “blacking” you will experience unless you hold very very still.

A Simmons, Leupold, or Redfield in a 4×12x40 would be a good choice.

The reason the scope view goes black with the slightest movement of your head is because the field of veiw is narrow… Thats the X44 part of your specs… You have a long range scope 8-32 combined with a narrow field of view X44 and you have it going black when your head moves the slightest……… This has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the scope or the price. A $1000 scope with those specs will do the same thing….. If your shooting only to 250 yards then get a 3-9X40 would be fine. If you want a wider field of view (wider picture thru the lens) then a 3-9X55 would be great…. like this one..
