BSA is a horrible product…not worth bringing home. You barely move your head and the whole thing goes black.
Bushnell (certainly not my favorite either) and Tasco is a much better product in the same price range. I have a tasco world class (not illuminated) 4×16x40 for my 17hmr for about 75 bucks and I’ve had good luck with it (I settle for about 12-14x though as mirage won’t let me go higher most of the time). I would recomend it.
Simmons is the “best” cheap scope brand out there though.
A little better yet is Mueller optics.
Don’t buy the BSA, you’ll regret it. There are other options.

This is not a scope designed for the 17hmr. Mil dot is also no fun to use unless you are accostomed to it.
Take a look at the BSA ‘Sweet 17′ that is. You will really like the BDC feature. It was designed specifically with the 17HMR in mind.
BSA is a novice/entry grade scope. If you have never used a scope before – this is a good choice for two reasons – price, and, you will learn how a scope works and appreciate the more expensive models once you’ve use an inexpensive one for awhile.
Hope this helps.
