JD is right on the money. The Nikon Prostaff 3-9×40mm scope is a great scope for the money. Pretty good glass clarity and eye relief.
I was borrowing a Nikon Prostaff 3-9×40mm, from my cousin. I had it mounted on my Savage Model 12FLV 22-250. I was very pleased with it. Only reason why I took it off, was I had to send my rifle in for repair.(I just bought a Leupold Rifleman 3-9×40mm, for my rifle.) That same Nikon scope was on a Remington Model 742 30-06. Its now mounted on a Ruger 22-250.
Go ahead and buy the scope. The Nikon Prostaff scopes can handle the recoil of your .270 Win. Sako Rifle.

The Nikon Pro Staff series of scopes are a good rifle scope if you are looking for just a basic all around rifle scope. Depending on what type of hunting you plan on doing you should taylor your scope to fit that need. If you plan on doing a lot of low light hunting (primarily early morning or late evening) than you want a scope with a larger diameter (50mm or so) The larger the diameter of the scope the more “light gethering” it can do. If you are going to be taking long shots you may want a scope with a little more magnification on it so you can see more clearly at longer distances. If you are hunting in the south where a 100 yard shot or less is the norm you may not need the higher power. It all depends on what you are going to be hunting and where. Don’t discount Burris scopes though. They are made in America (Greeley, CO) and carry a forever guarantee. If your scope malufunctions for any reason you can send it in and they will either fix it or send you a new one.

For christmas I bought myself a new TC encore and bought a 22 inch fluted barrel in .270 ( my favorite caliber) and I bought the new Nikon Pro Staff 3-9x 40 scope for it. I installed it and have it all bore sighted and ready to go sight in. I’m just waiting for the weather to break ( snowing or raining and high winds since christmas). I have used Nikon in the past and found them to be a VERY good scope. I chose it over the leupold because the price for quality is great. Also, cherish that sako, wish I had held on to both of mine!!
shoot safe

Nikon is a very reputable company, they won’t put their name on junk. I have never used their Pro Staff but I have had experience with other lines of optics.
3-9×40 is an excellent pairing for your .270
As with most things you get what you pay for, and I think you will be pleased with the Nikon.
